Welcome to my first blog. This year I will have so many different topics to talk about that is related to beauty, health, mind, body and soul. Being a stylist for over 20 years, I have a few tricks up my sleeves, but I also want to share with you the evolving world of this beauty industry. That’s why I love what I do because I love change!
Start the New Year off feeling glamourous! Lets’ be VIVID!
I have always been inspired by old school glam. I think my favorite era began in the 50’s looking back at celebrity style and fashion. Don’t let these pre-Madonna’s fool you though. They had some tricks up their sleeves too!
Rumor has it that Marilyn Monroe always tried to make her lips look plumper. She would have her makeup artist apply at least 5 shades of lipstick then lip gloss.
The famous Audrey Hepburn used pins after applying her mascara to make sure her lashes looked more individual.
Mae West used coconut oil back in the 30’s all over her face and body as a moisturizer.
Rita Hayworth wrapped her hair in oil for at least 15 minutes every time she went to wash her hair then would rinse her air with hot water and lemon juice to remove the excess oil. She believed this was the best conditioning treatment to do.
Elizabeth Taylor learned to do her own makeup on the set of “Cleopatra”, but also learned that she always needed to get a good night’s sleep.
Watching all the Utube tutorials today would have helped her learn a lot faster but she sure had that cat eye mastered.
Today using hot irons are more common than getting a roller or pin curl set. A trick I would still advise you still do to help keep your hair still looking fresh in the a.m. is to wrap your hair in a silk or satin scarf. It’s not foolproof but it will help!
Today’s celebrities are even making it more simple to create new looks like Beyoncé changing her hair to a side part.
To have bigger lips like Chrissy Teigan, just purse your lips out. (also, known as the duck lips. :P)
Jennifer Love Hewitt calms her zits with toothpaste.
From old Hollywood into new Hollywood things may never change. Glam it up this year and put the glam back in glamourous and keep it classy!
